Marketing On A Dime During A Pandemic

Marketing On A Dime During A Pandemic

It’s been a crazy few weeks and a few months for some. We’re all trying to adjust to what we are hoping is not a new normal. Waiting patiently for businesses that have closed to re-open and to finally be able to spend time with our family and friends. The reality is that some of those businesses may never re-open.

As with any small business there have been ups and downs for OL Social too. Some clients that couldn’t continue due to the current conditions and some that have been able to stick it out as well as a couple of new ones. I feel fortunate. I know not everyone is able to operate right now.

For those wondering if they should be marketing right now, my answer would be YES, if you are able. I would never recommend overextending or spending money when times are tight…but…if you have the ability, now is the time. People are at home with a lot of extra time on their hands. They are spending that time online, on social media. We are still seeing a lot of activity and in some cases more than typical. It might not contribute to the bottom line right now for your business but once things reopen it will have paid off. Don’t get me wrong. You don’t need to spend a lot. Below are some tips for things you can do to keep your business on top of people’s minds during this pandemic without breaking the bank.

Post on Social Media

  • Even if you aren’t social media savvy. Your fans will want to hear from you. To know that you are ok or not okay and how they may be able to help. So if you have existing social media channels, be sure to use them to stay in touch with your fans. The best part about this? It doesn’t cost anything!

Boost Your Facebook Posts

  • Did you know you can boost a Facebook post for $2/day? Give it a try. Click that blue “Boost Post” button, select your audience and after a few clicks you will have set up a boosted post. If your content resonates with your audience then you should see a cost per engagement of less than $.10. Anything higher could indicate that you need to make some adjustments to your content and/or your audience.

Try a Facebook Lead Generation Ad

  • Does your business benefit from leads? If so, this could be a great option for you. We are seeing cost per lead numbers of less than $10 and in some cases under $3. It may take some time to convert them but you will still be building your backlog for when this is all over. This ad format requires the most set up but if you go to the Facebook Ads Manager and set up a new Lead Generation ad, it will walk you through the process.

There are many other types of ads that you can run depending on what type of business you have and what your objective is. The above just highlights two of those to show that you don’t have to spend a lot of money to see results. We’re always here to help if you need more guidance.
